Smallest Blessings

John 13:34  “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

A sweet text message. A door held open.  A heart felt thank you. A compliment.  A big smile.  A nodding head. An arm around the shoulder. A belly deep laugh. A “me too!”

These are the blessings that get me through my days. These are the whisperings reminding me that I am not alone.

Sometimes we get so caught up in looking for the bigger blessings. We think it’s the enormous things that will make us happy and content in these upside down lives we all lead. We forget to pause and reflect on how it’s really the smallest gestures of love that truly fuel us. The kisses from God that help keep our fires burning.

Jesus calls on us to love each other as He loved us. Jesus made others feel safe. He made people feel secure. He made the unwanted feel wanted.

Look for the smallest blessings throughout your day.   Keep showing His love wherever and whenever it is possible.

Savor the precious and tiniest of moments knowing, in your heart of hearts, that Jesus has truly shown up.
