2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore,if anyone is made new to Christ, He is a new creation. The old has passed away, behold, the new has come.
Do you ever want something new just because it’s new? Whether it’s a new car, a new outfit, or a new gadget, you believe that owning it will somehow make your life just a little bit better?
Even my cat gets in on this craze. If there is an unopened bag sitting next to a closed one she will cry and whine to have the newest bag opened for her. She will drive me completely insane trying to get into that bag. Her old bag no longer does it for her. The shine is now gone.
Thankfully, we aren’t cats and the shininess and luster of material things should begin to fade when we devote our lives to Christ. After all, we have become brand new ourselves. We are no longer chained to this world. We have gained a whole new status and a whole new purpose.
And it has nothing to do with where we live or what we wear.
Sure, we might still be distracted and tempted by the sparkle and the shine. I know I still falter. But, thankfully, we have the guidance of The Holy Spirit to keep us focused and centered. He is here to point your head in another direction.
But you still might want to grab some sunglasses.
Because He is brighter than anything you could have ever imagined.
