Matthew 13:8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.
In His Parable about the Sower, Jesus reminds His disciples of how it’s only the seeds growing in the good soil that will flourish and thrive. Seeds growing along the way side, or on the rocky path, will not make it. They will eventually whither away into dust.
As Christians walking with Christ we need to keep our soil fresh. One way we do this is by surrounding ourselves with people who help water it.
I sent my best friend a devotion today. She didn’t particularly like it and we ended up having a really good back and forth conversation about our faith.
My best friend helps to water my soil. She keeps me thinking about my faith. She pushes me to dig deeper and to learn more.
Think about who you have watering your soil. Who helps to keep you focused and on His path? Friends who lead you down the rocky path, or along the wayside, are not going to help you grow.
Grab onto the friends who sharpen you. Lean on each other as you go through your walk.
We aren’t ever meant to do it alone.
