Closer

I am awful at putting on my eyeliner. I didn’t wear any for the first thirty years of my life and I am still  painfully learning how to put it on. I always think it looks OK and then I get in my car and look in the rear view mirror and cringe. I just can’t do it.  I am never as close enough to my eyelash line as I would like to be.

I am always just a little off.

Thankfully, we don’t have to worry about being just a little off when we are trying to get closer to Jesus. On the night Jesus was born, an Angel appeared to the shepherds who had waited for so long for their savior. What the angel said was earth changing.  “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”

The good news, of course, was about Jesus.  But what makes this passage even  greater is the word “all.” Jesus is not just for some people. He is for “all” of the people. We can come to Him at anytime and not worry about being even just a little bit off. He wants us as close to Him as possible.

I’m so thankful for a Lord who wants us near Him at all time. I’m so thankful for a Lord who gives us access when we let Him into our hearts and accept Him as our Savior.

I’m positive I will never be an ace at doing my eyeliner. It might always be just a little off.  What I don’t want to be little off at though is my love for Him. Yet, even when I stumble and don’t come as close as I should, He is always willing and waiting to take me back.

And he doesn’t care how off my eyeliner is.

Luke 2:10  But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.
