This year, I finally broke down and bought Eli a real Thermos to put his hot food in for lunch. For years I have bought the generic ones, hoping they would do the job, but they never did. His food was always cold by the time he sat down to eat. This Thermos though is the real deal. It keeps his soup or macaroni and cheese hot and he can enjoy a nice, warm lunch instead of a lukewarm one.
Sometimes I feel like the cheap thermos. On fire in the morning. My soul burning for Jesus but by lunch time I am cooled. I have turned my eyes back toward the world.
I want to be the expensive Thermos. The one that keeps my eyes fixed toward Him at all times. I don’t want my heat to cool. I want everything thing I say and everything I do to honor you Lord.
Every morning, when I wake up, I am going to take a moment to think about how to keep my eyes fixed solely on Jesus. What are the distractions that turn me away? How can I keep my focus?
I want to be on fire at lunch time.
And at dinner time.
And at bed time.
I want my thermos to be a 24 hour deal.
Hebrews 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
